Badly needed road repairs begin on Stapleton Place

Work began today on badly needed road reconstruction and resurfacing works on Stapleton Place.

As a result of the works the road is closed to vehicular traffic from today until Sunday week February 26th from its junctions with Dublin Street and The Crescent.

While no one will argue about the need for the roadworks given how poor the surface is on the road, particularly outside Glen Gat House, the closure of one of Dundalk’s busiest thoroughfares is likely to cause major disruptions to traffic around the town.

While next week is mid-term for local schools, motorists are still advised to avoid the area if at all possible.

During this period local access for residents shall be facilitated “as much as possible” while cycle lane access will be disrupted. Pedestrian access, however, will be maintained.

Local diversions will be in place during the closure.
