Bay Estate pitch transformed to become new home of Rampart Celtic FC

A popular playing pitch in a local housing estate has been lovingly restored over the past 12 months.

The pitch in Bay Estate, behind the local shops, had fallen into disrepair due to anti-social behaviour and joy-riding in recent years.

However, after countless hours put in by the local community it has been restored to its former glory and tonight will host its first game of the Summer League when Rampart Celtic take on Walshestown at 7.15pm in what is now known as Auto Assure Park.

Rampart Celtic posted the image above to outline the transformation in the pitch in the past of 12 months and said: “The first picture was how the pitch looked 12 months ago and the second picture is how it looks now.

“It’s all down to some serious work by some absolutely great, great people that is allowing this dream to come true, a dream that some of us have waited 10 years for as we always wanted to have our own pitch, which will help the club grow.”

If you’re in Bay Estate tonight be sure to pop by the pitch to cheer the local side on.

Rampart Celtic won their opening match of the Summer League 3-1 against reigning champions Muirhevnamor last week with goals from David Culligan and two from substitute Luca Marsella.

The team was: David Lynch, Eamonn Rogers, David Asare (Paul Prior), Eoin McGuinness, Paul Gray, Brendan Rogers, Saheed Ogunfuwora (Stefan Zlokapa), Shane McCormack, Stephen Connor, David Culligan (Marcel Ekwueme), Lee Wright (Luca Marsella). Subs not used: Nicky McKeever, Aaron Conway, Niall Hannify.
