Carlingford accommodation provider receives five star rating from Fáilte Ireland

A local accommodation provider has recently received a five star rating from Fáilte Ireland.

The honour for Carlingford Accommodation makes them one of only five companies in Ireland has has a five star rating and out of the 11 five star rated self catering properties they own and operate seven of them.

Carlingford Accommodation is run by father and son duo James and Paul Byrne. They are two of a five strong team that include housekeepers Sanita and Caroline and Majella, who looks after the finances.

They started operating in 2002 with three townhouses and now they have 14 houses and cottages, with another house under construction. This accommodation currently sleeps a total of 120 guests, all of whom are located in the heart of Carlingford village with all of its amenities on the doorstep.

Speaking to Talk of the Town about the award, Paul Byrne said: “We are very proud of this achievement and our continued efforts to make Carlingford a five star destination to both Irish and international visitors.

“We started with a 100% domestic trade but cracked the international market in 2013. We now have an international guest rate of 30% which is growing annually. In addition to being the only five star self catering providers in the North East we are the only ones in Carlingford to have hot tubs installed in a number of our properties.”

Carlingford Accommodation’s five star properties are Port Cottage, Rose Cottage, The Pump House, The Gate House, Starboard House, 17 & 18 Market Court and 2 & 3 Trinity Mews. They also have four 4 star properties, The Sloop, The Schooner, The Yawl and Tholsel Mews.
