Close to 1,000 participants to take part in tonight’s DkIT Dundalk 10k

Close to 1,000 participants are expected to enter the DkIT Dundalk 10k event, which takes place this evening.

This year’s race will take place tonight at 7pm with a warm-up being conducted by DkIT Sport staff at the facility at Dundalk Retail Park from 6.45pm. The race will start and end here, taking a route via Blackrock, back onto the old Dublin Road and back up the Inner Relief Road.

No parking will be available at DkIT Sport from 5pm today in order to facilitate the event while traffic restrictions will also be in place.

The organisers are expecting the “biggest race for a number of years” with “close on 1,000 participants” signed up as of last night.

Late registrations can still be made at DkIT Sport until 6.15pm today.

As well as the 10k event, a 5k walk will also be taking place.

Local companies Servisource Recruitment, DkIT Sport, Smyth’s Life Pharmacy, Fyffes Ireland and Dundalk Retail Park are sponsors of this year’s race.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and Oran’s Foundation.
