Derry City to play their home European matches in Dundalk this summer

Derry City are set to host their Europa League games at Oriel Park in Dundalk this season.

News of the move was revealed by The Derry News, who claim that an alternative proposal to play the club’s European games at The Showgrounds in Sligo fell through after Sligo Rovers priced the club out of a move.

With The Brandywell undergoing redevelopment at present, Kenny Shiels’ side are playing their home league and cup matches at Maginn Park in Buncrana, Co Donegal.

However, it will not meet UEFA’s criteria.

Derry are set to play their first qualifying round in Europe on June 29th and the fixture could bring about a significant boost to local business with Candystripes supporters expected to travel in big numbers to the game.
