Dundalk ended their season on a high by beating Bray Wanderes 2-0 at the Carlisle Grounds to secure second place in the Premier Division table.

The win was worth an additional €20,000 for Dundalk as they now receive €45,000 in prize money for finishing as runners-up.

The visitors hit the front five minutes before the break when Stephen O’Donnell cushioned the ball into the path of Pat Hoban, who made no mistake with a low drive to the bottom corner of the net.

The win was then secured on the hour mark when Kurtis Byrne raced onto a John Mountney pass before sliding in to poke the ball past goalkeeper Darren Quigley.

There was also a minute’s applause before kick-off for Lilywhite legend Tommy McConville, who passed away earlier that day.
