Dundalk FC have completed the signing of Ruaidhrí Higgins this afternoon.

The 29-year-old midfielder joins the Lilywhites having been released by Derry City at the end of last season. A former Northern Ireland U-21 international, Higgins played at the Brandywell from 2004-2009 and from 2011 to 2013, with a year at Bohemians in 2010 where he won the Setanta Sports Cup.

During his spell at Derry, Higgins played under current Dundalk boss Stephen Kenny and won two FAI Cups and five League Cups.

One player who will not be at Oriel Park next season though is last year’s full back John Sullivan, who has made a return to Shelbourne.

Meanwhile, Dundalk are also seeking to appoint a full-time Commercial Manager.

According to the club, the key responsibility of this position is to increase revenue streams for the football club including pitch signs, programme adverts, match and player sponsorships. Furthermore, the Commercial Manager will co-ordinate other areas of the club’s commercial and fundraising activities.

The ideal candidate will have to meet the following criteria:

  • Previous commercial experience desirable
  • Good literacy, numeracy and computer skills essential.
  • Full driving license and own transport
  • Flexible approach to working hours

Interested candidates should email a CV and a covering letter to colm.murphy@dundalkfc.com.
