Dundalk IT has second highest number of bullying cases of all third level colleges
Dundalk Institute of Technology had one of the largest number of cases of either bullying or disciplinary issues over the course of the last four years.
New figures published today by The Irish Examiner following a Freedom of Information request found that in the period from 2013 to 2016 inclusive more than 200 cases of bullying or harassment were formally investigated by the 21 main publicly funded third level colleges nationwide.
Of these there were 19 cases in Dundalk IT, which was on a par with UCD in second place. Only DIT in Dublin had a higher figure with 32.
In one case in Dundalk a student was expelled due to alleged disorderly conduct and sexual harassment against a staff member.
The college said there was “possible criminal proceedings pending” in a separate case involving two staff members and the alleged misuse of email.
