Dundalk store broken into just days after opening

A local shop which only opened its doors a few days earlier was broken into last week with a number of items taken.

O’Hanlon’s XL shop at the recently revamped Emo filling station on the Carrick Road, formerly the Dealgan Service Station close to Oriel Park, was the victim of a break-in in the early hours of last Thursday morning.

It is understood that two males gained access to the premises via a sky light around 2.25am before making off with a number of items.

Gardaí are investigating whether or not the incident was linked to a break-in earlier that night around 1.45am at the Ballykelly Food Stores on the Dundalk-Carrickmacross Road.

After the alarm was set off in the premises its owner arrived at the scene a short time later to discover a grill had been removed from the front door and glass smashed. A number of items were also taken during this break-in.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9335577.
