There were emotional scenes at Dublin Airport this morning as soldiers from Dundalk’s Aiken Barracks returned home from the Lebanon – some of whom had been there for up to six months.

Forty-one soldiers from the 27th Battalion left Ireland at the end of November to join the UNIFIL mission, where they led the 42nd Infantry in peacekeeping duties.

Amongst those returning home today was Cpl Ian Woods who was greeted by his wife Joanne and six week old son Mason.
