Further expansion of Darver Castle given the go ahead

The go ahead has been given for further expansion plans at Darver Castle.

Last September owners Aidan and Mary Carville announced plans for 38 additional bedrooms to be built in the existing courtyard of the 12th century castle in Readypenny.

As part of those three year plans the civil ceremony room has been refurbished while the bar will also be extended, with enhancement works planned for the gardens.

Earlier this year owner Aidan Carville proposed further works with conditional planning permission granted last week by to Louth County Council to change the use of the first floor restaurant area, kitchen and toilets into nine bedroom suites.

As part of the redevelopment it is proposed to change the fround floor bar/keg store, cocktail area and part bar area into a sit down/snug area with an escape stairs and bar/keg store.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Carvilles purchasing Darver Castle with in excess of 2,000 weddings having been held there in that time.
