Go ahead given to extend St Fursey’s Cemetery

Conditional planning permission has been granted by Louth County Council to extend St Fursey’s Cemetery on the Chapel Road in Haggardstown.

Local Parish Priest Fr Padraig Keenan applied to the local authority for permission to extend the graveyard to the north east of the existing site last month with planning granted earlier this week.

This proposed changes would involve the change of use of 0.67ha of land from agricultural use to use as burial ground, the extension of the existing access route, calvary scene, four additional car parking spaces including for a hearse, burial plots, planting and all ancillary site works.

St Fursey’s Cemetery is adjoining St Fursey’s Church, which is a protected strucutre.
