Hill Street in Dundalk reopens to traffic following collision

Hill Street in Dundalk has reopened to traffic around 10.20am this morning following a crash outside Byrne’s Pub.

A gas pipeline was struck after a Renault Clio veered into it around 8.30am. It is understood that a second vehicle involved in the incident fled the scene with Gardaí investigating.

The road was closed for almost two hours while the extent of the damage was investigated with Dundalk Fire Service in attendance. Bord Gáis are continuing to make repairs to the meter box.

Delays to traffic were reported on nearby roads but thankfully no major injuries were sustained. A 24-year-old woman was taken to hospital with a knee injury and treated for shock but should make a full recovery.
