Megan Ferguson named new Louth Rose

The title of Louth Rose is staying in the peninsula after Carlingford woman Megan Ferguson succeeded Jenny Hanlon at the annual selection night in the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Saturday night.

The Cooley Ladies footballer beat off competition from 13 other women to land the coveted title.

She was put forward for Louth Rose by Carlingford and Cooley Tourism and Carlingford Oyster Pearl – a title which she won last August.

Unlike in previous years, Megan, who works in the Four Seasons Hotel in Carlingford, will automatically go to Tralee for the festival at the end of August. Normally, roses had to attend a regional event in Portlaoise to try and qualify for the main event but this year all the Roses will go to Tralee where a selection event will be held to determine the 32 roses who make the TV show, which will air on Monday and Tuesday August 22nd and 23rd.
