New car sales in Louth up 26% in first four months of 2016
The number of new cars sold in Louth in the first four months of the year is up 26.1% on the same period of last year.
The latest figures from SIMI show there were 2,140 cars sold between January 1st and April 30th, which was 443 sales more than the 1,697 in the same period of 2015.
There were 213 new cars sold in Co Louth in April, up 29.09% on the 165 from the same month of 2015. While this was a marked improvement on the 4.06% increase from March, the volume of new sales continues to slow as people prepare for the introduction of the 162 market in July.
The latest figures suggest the county is well on track to top last year’s total number of new cars sold.
Last year there were 2,780 new cars sold in Louth – up 30.39% on the 2,132 sales from 2014 and by 86.95% on the 1,487 new registrations in 2013.
In total 1,871 cars were registered in the first half of 2015 in Louth, up 25.57% on the 1,490 in the first six months of 2014. The remaining 909 cars were sold in the second half of the year, up 41.59% on the 642 cars sold between July and December 2014.
