New radiology practice opens in Dundalk

A new radiology practice has just opened in Dundalk.

The new venture, which is located at Distillery House in Distillery Lane, is great news for anyone in the area who requires an X-ray.

Until now, residents in Dundalk and surrounding areas have often had to travel all the way to Dublin for an X-ray or wait weeks for an appointment in the Louth Hospital.

Now a local enterprising radiographer has seen an opportunity to bring the service much closer to home.

X-ray Ireland was set up last November in Distillery House on Distillery Lane to provide much faster access to high quality X-ray facilities, which also involves a report being sent back to the referring doctor in super-quick time – normally under 48 hours.

X-ray Ireland insist their new service will allow GPs to offer the patient a greater level of care while reducing pressures on overstretched hospital resources.

Founder and Head Radiographer, Geoff Buchanan, said: “We always wanted to provide a service that was patient friendly and easy accessible and it’s great that to see all the hard work come to fruition and benefit the lives of so many local people.”

For further details or to book an appointment visit www.x-rayireland.com or call 042 9329986.

A walk in service is available from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday while appointments can also be made from 5pm to 9pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 5pm on Saturday.

The cost of the service is €75 per exam, with a discounted rate applied to multiple exams.

The service is also available to medical card holders and private health insurance customers of Laya, Aviva, Irish Life Health, Glohealth and VHI.
