Ten man Dundalk let two goal lead slip in Tallaght

DundalkCrest2010Dundalk blew a two goal lead in Tallaght Stadium last night was Shamrock Rivers battled back to claim a 2-2 draw.

Stephen Kenny’s side looked odds-on for a seventh league win of the campaign when goals either side of half-time from David McMillan and Ronan Finn gave them a 2-0 lead.

However, the game swung back in the home side’s favour in the 56th minute when Mikey Drennan fired home a penalty past substitute goalkeeper Gabriel Sava after number one Gary Rogers had been sent off for a foul on Ryan Brennan.

Within five minutes Rovers were level when Drennan curled a second to the top left hand corner.

After that both sides had chances to win it but in the end a point might not have been a bad result for Dundalk given the circumstances.

The Lilywhites are next in action on Monday night when they welcome Galway Utd to Oriel Park.

Meanwhile, the league match at home to Bray Wanderers, originally scheduled for Friday May 1st, will now take place on Bank Holiday Monday May 4th with a 3pm kick-off. This is to accommodate tv coverage on Setanta Sports.
