Tidy Towns group hit out at vandalism in Blackrock Park

Blackrock Tidy Towns have hit out at vandals who pulled up a series of plants which were being grown in Blackrock Park.

A number of plants which had been growing along railings at the park were pulled out and tossed on the ground.

Reacting to the callous act, Blackrock Tidy Towns said: “Isn’t it sad that there are people in our community who think this is OK?

“That an amenity that’s the envy of so many towns and villages, developed and maintained by a small team of dedicated volunteers, is treated like this begger’s belief – and there’s NO excuse.”

Local members of the community have described the act as “horrible” and “disgusting”.

It is understood the incident occurred on Sunday or Monday. Anyone who might have witnessed it is asked to report the incident to Blackrock Tidy Towns.

Thankfully all three plants which were damaged were recovered in time and replanted.
