Toxic diesel sludge dumped in Knockbridge

Stephenstown Pond

Three cubes of toxic diesel sludge were discovered dumped in Knockbridge last night.

The cubes, containing around 1,000 litres each of the fuel laundering waste, were abandoned opposite Stephenstown Pond. The fact they were right on the bend of the road also made them a hazard for passing motorists.

Louth County Council contractors are removing the cubes this morning.

This is one of several similar dumps at Stephenstown Pond and anyone who might have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9335577.
