World Cycle Race winner has bike stolen in Dundalk

A World Cycle Race winner had his bike stolen in Dundalk at the weekend and has issued an appeal for its return.

Leitrim man Breifne Earley left the specialised bike (which he is pictured on above) outside the Demesne Shopping Centre on Saturday while he popped into a local book shop to drop off copies of his book, Pedal the Planet, which was written in aid of Pieta House.

Writing on social media, Breifne said he was anxious to get the bike back due to the cost and sentimental value it had to him.

“Obviously the sentimental value, coupled with the actual cost of the bike is significant and I would greatly appreciate any help in returning the bike,” he said.

The bike is a very distinctive specialised Crux Carbon Pro. It is mainly white with black and red decals.

The theft has been reported to Gardaí but Breifne is appealing to anyone who may have been offered the bike for sale, or anyone who may have seen it advertised for sale, to immediately contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9388400.
