25-year-old arrested in connection with Castletown Road assault
A 25-year-old man was arrested in Dundalk yesterday evening in connection with an alleged assault on a man in the Castletown Road area of the town on Tuesday night.
A man in his 40s was walking home from work when he was approached by two people who threatened him with a knife and attempted to steal his backpack.
A scuffle ensued before the man managed to run to a local filling station.
He suffered a head injury in the incident and was later taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where his injuries were deemed non-life threatening.
The 25-year-old was detained in relation to the incident yesterday and is due to appear before Dundalk District Court today.
