250,000 fuel tanks to remote enabled following new deal for Dunraven Systems
Dundalk-based fuel tank monitoring specialists Dunraven Systems Limited have recently announced a deal with an international IoT solutions provider in a bid to revolutionise the oil monitoring industry through the Internet of Things.
The €1 million partnership will allow Finnabair Industrial Estate-based Dunraven Systems access to an international IoT network, which will automatically connect a newly developed IoT enabled ultrasonic fuel tank monitor to Dunraven’s highly recommended remote monitoring platform RMS DELTA.
This latest offering from Dunraven only further increases efficiencies for fuel distributors and multi-tank organisations, by reducing unnecessary journeys, increasing fill volumes and greatly increasing customer retention through premium loyalty and supply programmes.
Michael McCaughley, Dunraven Systems Business Manager said: “Having accessed the remote tank monitoring space thoroughly it quickly became apparent that the industry needed a new reliable, cost effective, remote monitoring solution and we feel through this development we have finally delivered this.
“Cost, battery life and serviceability have always been big stumbling blocks in the efforts to remotely monitor tanks the past, but the IoT technology is optimized to provide a low-cost, low-power option for connecting devices directly our cloud system therefore now significantly speeding up the return of investment in a remote monitoring device,” Michael continued.
Through the deal the IoT provider will be providing Dunraven Systems with 250,000 subscriptions to their IoT network, providing the company with the ability to monitor the same number of tanks worldwide. This is equal to about 35% of the total number of cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) subscriptions currently live in Ireland on Vodafone, Three or Eir networks.
A spokesman for the IoT network said: “Having worked with Dunraven over the last 12 months, we are delighted to be able to provide their global IoT connectivity needs, allowing them to not only reduce their cost base substantially in terms of both hardware and connectivity costs, but offer new services and business models thanks to the power of our IoT network. Considering there are over 1 million home heating tanks in island of Ireland alone we are looking forward to the day when oil replenishing is totally automated thanks to the power of our network and the reliability of Dunraven.”
Established in 2003 by Gerry Jones, Dundalk-based Dunraven Systems is best known for its market leading range of ultrasonic liquid level sensors, which have a variety of uses, including the monitoring fuel tanks in various fields like home heating oil. Dunraven currently has more than 750,000 devices deployed in 16 countries throughout the EU, Middle East and further afield.
It is hoped that not only will this deal bring this sector into the 21st century but will help retain customers on oil by offering hassle free utility style billing models and turning the interaction with customers from a reactive state to an on demand service.
