Almac given the go ahead for new EU Distribution Centre in Dundalk
Northern Irish-based pharmaceutical firm the Almac Group have been given the go ahead for a new EU Distribution Centre in Dundalk.
The company, which announced 100 jobs for Dundalk last year, unveiled plans in January for the new facility at Finnabair Crescent in the Finnabair Industrial Estate as part of a further £30 million (€34 million) investment that included a new QC laboratory.
Almac were given the go ahead for the QC laboratory earlier this month and now conditional planning permission has been granted for the EU Distribution Centre for clinical trial supply also.
As part of those plans, the company are seeking to erect a two storey storage, distribution and office building of 7,344sqm floor area. There would also be a single storey site security/reception building of 141sqm floor area, as well as changes to the existing site accesses and new associated site development works.
It is hoped the dedicated 79,000ft2 facility will be operational by January 2019 with further jobs to follow once it is up and running.
