Dundalk as it Happens
An evening of Shakespeare coming to An Táin Arts Centre
An Táin Arts Centre’s company in residence, Quintessence brings two of Shakespeare’s most famous plays to Dundalk on Saturday April 30th from 7pm.
The evening begins with Romeo & Juliet at 7pm, a story of two young lovers who fall desperately for each other, with tragic consequences. There will then be a delicious tapas interlude provided by The Market Bar, with a selection of three different dishes available for €4 each or €10 for all three. Then at 9:30pm, Hamlet, who is haunted by his father’s ghost and driven to seek vengeance, will be staged. Each play is approximately 1hr 45mins and with an interval of 45mins.
Paul Hayes, Managing Director of An Táin Arts Centre said: “Quintessence have just returned from their Dublin run of Vessel, their 2015 show based on the 8th amendment. Doing two Shakespeare shows daily for schools and a show on Saturday for the public is very ambitious, but Quintessence has proven with the three shows they did last year that they are up to the task. I’m also excited to be partnering with The Market Bar to provide tapas between the two shows. It should make for a very special evening.”
Tickets for each individual show is €15 / €12, or €25 / €20 if both shows are bought together.
The tapas deal is also available with either show, or with both. €4 each or €10 for all three dishes.
