Brighton boss Hughton confirms Towell will join Championship club on loan
Brighton and Hove Albion might be headed for the Premier League but it looks like former Dundalk midfielder Richie Towell is heading in the opposite direction.
The 25-year-old, who scored 29 goals in all competitions when Dundalk won the league and FAI Cup double in 2015, has struggled for game time since linking up with Chris Hughton’s side in January 2016.
He has managed just a handful of cup appearances since arriving at the Amex Stadium with his only real outing in the first team coming in last year’s unsuccessful Play Off campaign.
Injuries haven’t helped Towell’s cause this season but speaking to The Brighton Argus today Hughton confirmed the midfielder would be remaining at the club but leaving on loan alongside fellow fringe player Rohan Ince.
Hughton said: “Players like Rohan and Richie will go out on loan.
“We have been really delighted with Richie but we are very keen for him to get out on loan to the Championship next season.”
