With just six days to go until ‘Frostival’ on Friday night, the line up of events taking place in and around the Dundalk town centre for the festival which marks the start of Dundalk’s Christmas season, is now complete.
Fiona Cunningham of Dundalk BIDS and a core organiser of ‘Frostival’ said that excitement is building up for the festival on Friday evening.
“So many people have put time and energy into this festival andnew Log Cabin Christmas Market.
“All we can say at this stage is that we hope as many people as possible come in to enjoy the Festival and support Dundalk town centre this Christmas season.”
Dundalk’s ‘King’, Stephen Kenny will officially open the Dundalk on Ice indoor ice rink on the Market Square. Dundalk on Ice – which recently announced its main sponsor this year as SIRO, the ESB-Vodafone joint venture which is delivering Ireland’s first 100% fibre-optic broadband network to 51 towns nationwide – promises to be every bit as enjoyable as last year, and is once again being operated by Planet Ice.
‘Frostival’ heralds the opening of the new Christmas Log Cabin Markets. ‘Frostival’ organisers have invested in the Log Cabins which will remain open in the Town Centre from November 27th to December 23rd, creating a festive atmosphere in the marketplace in the run up to Christmas.
The Dundalk Santa Run will take place on the night of ‘Frostival’ with, it is hoped, thousands of fully dressed Santas running through the streets to smash the event’s own world record set in 2013.
The Marshes Shopping Centre will once again play host to the now annual fireworks display which also heralds the arrival of Santa at the Centre.
Well known Dundalk group ‘Who’s Eddie?’ will entertain ‘Frostival’ festival goers with a live performance from the Market Square on the night while once again Pelican Promotions will be joining in the Dundalk Christmas festivities with a host of family amusements and great wristband deals on offer.
Have you been writing you letter to Santa? Following last year’s success, Santa has once again asked that his special Santa’s Postbox be placed in the town centre so that children can write to him and have the post delivered straight to his toyshop table.
The Christmas train also returns to Dundalk this year so why not enjoy a spin around all the ‘Frostival’ events?
‘Frostival’ is a joint initiative, funded and supported by Louth County Council, Dundalk BIDS, Dundalk Chamber of Commerce and Marshes Shopping Centre.
