Counterfeit spirits and tobacco seized by Revenue in Louth
A large quantity of counterfeit spirits and tobacco was seized by Revenue officials in Co Louth last week.
The seizure was made last Thursday. Officers from Revenue in Louth seized 60 litres of counterfeit spirits, 5kg of counterfeit tobacco and the car in which the contraband was transported.
Together with a seizure of 14,400 cigarattes in Dublin Airport that day, the combined retail value of the seized goods is approximately €14,800, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost €11,600. Investigations in these cases are ongoing.
