Danny Morrison to visit Dundalk for book relaunch
Belfast author Danny Morrison is re-launching his very successful first book, ‘West Belfast’, after 25 years with a visit to Dundalk planned next week to coincide with it.
Since its first launch in 1989, Danny has re-worked and updated the novel which has been followed by three other novels, a memoir, a prison journal and a collection of political writings.
The novel was written at a time when the republican voice was drowned out by outsiders writing about the conflict and the media was reporting only one viewpoint. ‘West Belfast’ was ground breaking at the time because Danny had ‘dared’ to challenge this one viewpoint. It is a very honest and personal account of a life in West Belfast and a portrayal in novel form of what it was like to live under British oppression in modern times.
Danny Morrison will be in Dundalk Library on Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm where he will be reading extracts from the book, having a Q&A and signing copies.
