Dundalk IT’s Carla Rowe was on the scoresheet as Dublin ended their losing streak in All-Ireland ladies finals with a 4-11 to 0-11 victory over Mayo at Croke Park yesterday.
Rowe scored 1-1 on the day in front of a record crowd of 46,286 as Dublin finally got their hands on the Brendan Martin Cup having lost the last three deciders to Cork.
Rowe’s first point came after Cora Staunton had briefly cut the Dublin lead to three entering the final quarter.
The Naul woman then added a late goal to ensure the Dubliners held out for a famous win.
Last year the fourth year student in Health and Physical Activity – who is on a DkIT GAA Sports Scholarship – was named on the TG4 Ladies All Star team and will be hoping for that honour again when the side is announced in the coming weeks.
Sunday’s win completes her medal set having won an All-Ireland Minor title in 2012 and U21 All-Irelands in 2014 and 2015.
