Dundalk FC fan song ‘C’mon the Town’ targets chart success
While Dundalk FC plot their route to the Champions League group stages tonight against Legia Warsaw, a group of the club’s supporters have released a song into the Irish charts.
The track ‘C’mon the Town’ was first unveiled on YouTube last week before being entered into the iTunes charts last week.
It entered at 133rd before jumping to 68th and then 34th and those behind it are now hoping it can reach the top 10.
The idea for the song came from well known Dundalk supporter Mark ‘Maxi’ Kavanagh.
He then contacted Tadhg Mulligan, who had featured in his Maxi Taxi videos, and the pair set out on what has now become an unlikely bid to conquer the charts with the track from ‘Grounds Keeper Willy’.
Tadgh told Talk of the Town: “Maxi contacted me because I was also a viral hit in his taxi playing Irish music one night with my friends so I got a group together to do the song because we wanted an Irish theme to it.
“Dave Sheridan was the mastermind in the recording studio and editing. The lyrics are also originals of Dave’s.”
The track has been played in local pubs and nightclubs over the weekend with Tadhg insisting it reminds him of the song ‘Hit the Diff’.
