Dundalk house prices rise another 2.6% in July

The average price of a house in Dundalk grew by a further 2.6% in July.

The latest Residential Property Price Index from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) shows that the average house price in the town for the year to July now stands at €183,371.

This is an increase of €4,728 from the average price of 178,643 in June. The mean price of properties locally has now risen by 11.8% or €19,345 since April when the price stood at €164,026.

The CSO report that there were 552 sales in the town in the year to July.

Of these sales 28% (152) were to first-time buyers, 49% (273) were to trader uppers or downers while 23% (127) were to those who do not plan to occupy the property, i.e. investors.

In Co Louth as a whole the average price was up 4.7% in the year to July to an average of €184,440.

Meanwhile, the average house price in Drogheda also took a significant increase. It was up 2.3% in the year to July to €207,824.

The median price in Dundalk also jumped by almost €4,000 in July, up to €166,500 from €162,653 in June while in Drogheda it was up to €195,000 from €193,000. The median price for Co Louth was also up €2,000 to €167,000.
