Dundalk was the ninth most popular location nationwide for first-time buyers to buy a property in last year.

New data from Bank of Ireland has revealed that Co Louth was one of the busiest locations for first-time buyers last year with Drogheda the most popular location outside of Dublin last year.

That trend is set to continue into this year with the launch of the government’s new first-time buyer scheme.

There has also been a number of new development launches and relaunches including Carlinn Hall on the Mullaharlin Road, Harbour Grove on the Lower Point Road, Cnoc na Mara in Blackrock and Mount Hamilton on the Carrick Road, a video for which can be seen below having been completed recently by David Norton.

The top 10 neighbourhoods outside Dublin for first-time buyers in 2016 (based on sales) were:

  1. Drogheda
  2. Bray
  3. Midleton
  4. Waterford City
  5. Newbridge
  6. Navan
  7. Ennis
  8. Kilkenny
  9. Dundalk
  10. Gorey
