Fighting Blindness information event planned for Dundalk Gaol
Fighting Blindness are holding an information event in the Oriel Centre at Dundalk Gaol on Thursday March 23rd.
The event, which will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, will provide information about geneti, age-related and diabetes-related conditions that cause vision impairment and blindness.
The event will focus on conditions that affect the retina, which is located at the back of the eye. These conditions include;
- age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
- diabetic retinopathy
- retinitis pigmentosa (RP)
- Usher syndrome
- Stargardt disease
- Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA)
- cone-rod dystrophies
- Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON)
All those affected and their families are invited along on the night with refreshments to be served.
There will also be a presentation on the night from Fighting Blindness, giving an update on their work and on current research to find treatments and cures for blindness.
This will be followed by a discussion where you will have an opportunity to ask any questions.
