Former Dundalk duo Horgan and Boyle continue to shine for Preston

It was a good weekend for former Dundalk duo Daryl Horgan and Andy Boyle as they both played a key role in Preston North End’s 3-0 victory over Reading at Deepdale.

Horgan teed up Tom Barkhuizen for the opening goal before getting on the scoresheet himself before half-time.

Horgan grabbed his second goal for Preston at the weekend

Boyle, who was making his home debut after featuring for Preston for the first time in their midweek draw away to Derby County, then also grabbed an assist for Barkhuizen’s second goal.

After the victory, Simon Grayson’s side now sit in eighth position, six points off the Play-Offs.

Both players have also been named in Martin O’Neill’s 39-man provisional Republic of Ireland squad for the World Cup Qualifier clash with Wales at the end of the month, as well as the subsequent friendly with Iceland.
