Former Eurovision entrant from Dundalk to appear on RTÉ’s The Voice
A Dundalk woman who represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest over 30 years ago is set to feature on the upcoming series of RTÉ’s The Voice of Ireland.
Maria Christian-Cuche was sixth a the Eurovision in Gothenburg in Sweden in 1985 with her song ‘Wait Until The Weekend Comes’, which was composed by Brendan Graham.
Maria, who has been 95% blind since childhood, spent many years living in France after her Eurovision performance where she gave birth to and raised seven children.
Her daughter Shannon decided to put her forward for the show although the family will not be with her when she performs for the judges for the first time.
The Voice of Ireland airs on Sunday evenings at 6.30pm on RTÉ One.
