Former St Mary’s College building placed up for sale
The old St Mary’s College school on St Mary’s Road has been placed up for sale for an undisclosed sum.
The sale is being targeted at investors looking to build the 25 new residential units which were given the go ahead on a portion of the site last January.
The sale of the former school building, currently occupied temporarily by Coláiste Chú Chulainn as they await the construction of their new school at the Marshes, was advertised yesterday through local estate agents Sherry FitzGerald Carroll.

The former school premises is currently rented on a short term 4 year 9 month tenancy contract to the Louth Meath Educational and Training Board at an average rent of €51,200.
Earlier this year planning permission was granted to the Marist Fathers for the demolition of a two storey sports hall and single storey science block at the school. An Bord Pleanála gave the go ahead for a new residential development of 25 units in their place comprising an apartment block containing nine apartments, eight two bed ground floor apartments and eight three bed duplex apartments at first and second floor level.
The sale is being targeted towards investors who will follow through with residential development which is said to be ready to be built straight away.
