Funding approved for works to two local national schools
Two local national schools have been approved for additional accommodation and emergency works by the Department of Education.
St Mary’s NS in Knockbridge will have a new 80sqm classroom built onto the school, as well as three special education teacher rooms and an additional toilet facility for assisted users.
Meanwhile, St Nicholas Monastery School in Dundalk (pictured above main) has been approved for structural improvements under the emergency works category.
No details of the amount of funding approved has been provided as the publication of the amount of grant aid could prejudice the tendering process.
News of the funding was welcomed by local TD Fergus O’Dowd, who said: “This is fantastic news for the local area and is further proof of this Government’s commitment to make our education system one of the best in the world.”
