Gardaí renew appeal for information on Donohoe murder
Gardai will renew their appeal for witnesses to come forward to help in the investigation into the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe this week.
The new appeal will go out ahead of the first anniversary of his killing on Saturday.
Hundreds of Garda colleagues attended a special mass held in Dundalk last Tuesday to celebrate what would have been Adrian’s 42nd birthday.
Detectives have identified the five young men present when Detective Garda Donohoe was shot dead at Lordship Credit Union in Bellurgan on January 25th 2o13, but they have had little cooperation from a number of people in South Armagh who were aware of the movements and activities of the gang.
Two of the main suspects in the murder investigation have been in the US for the past couple of months, but their 90 day visas are due to run out shortly.
They have already been approached by detectives who travelled to New York and asked them to make statements.
Last week gardai said they had made “significant progress” in their hunt for the gang linked to the stolen car used in the murder of Detective Adrian Donohoe.
And as the first anniversary of his death approaches, officers say they are as determined as ever to bring charges against those involved in his murder.
