Generator stolen from car park of Community Centre in Blackrock

Gardaí in Blackrock are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a generator from the Community Centre car park overnight.

The Blackrock and Haggardstown Community Centre on Sandy Lane is currently being upgraded with a new drainage system, tarmac, line spacing and painting taking place in the car, which had been prone to flooding particularly during the winter months.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help finance the work with more than €11,100 raised to date of a €50,000 goal.

The theft of the generator is a setback however and both the committee of the centre and the Gardaí are anxious to have it returned.

Anyone who has any information in relation to the theft or who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area overnight is asked to contact Blackrock Garda Station on 042 9322194.

You can still contribute to the community centre’s refurbishment via the GoFundMe page here.
