Helicopter crashes on Cooley Mountains
Emergency services are attending the scene of a helicopter crash in the Cooley Mountains.
The helicopter, believed to have contained two men, went down this afternoon close to Carlingford shortly before 5pm. Initial reports say they are injured but no fatalities have been reported thankfully.
Fire Service and ambulance personnel are at the scene with the coastguard helicopter also lending assistance.
UPDATE 8pm: Latest reports suggest a father and son were injured in the helicopter crash.
The 71-year-old father was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital by the Irish Coastguard and is understood to be in a serious condition.
His son, who is in his 40s, was brought by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he is receiving treatment for his injuries
The crashed occurred less than one kilometre south of Carlingford at the foot of Top Hill with the helicopter landing in the garden of a premises.
