The number of people signing on the Live Register in Dundalk last month increased for the second consecutive month

The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show that there were 4,830 people claiming dole payments in Dundalk in June. This was up 1.6% on the 4,576 who were on the Live Register in May, putting it back to its higest figure since last September when there were 4,976 people on the Register.

In total the number on the Live Register has risen by 4.5% since April.

Despite the increase, year-on-year the number on the Live Register in Dundalk is down 13% from the 5,553 who were on it in June 2016.

Figures for Co Louth also increased by 1.5% last month from 10,511 to 10,669.

This represented an annual decrease of 15.6% from the 12,650 who were on the Live Register in the county in June last year.

The number on the Live Register in Ardee and Drogheda also increased last month by 3.7% and 1.5% respectively to 1,296 and 4,573.
