Local care home approved for €280,000 refurb
A care home at Castletowncooley has been approved for over €280,000 towards a refurbishment through the Department of Housing’s Capital Assistane Scheme.
News of the funding was announced today by local TD Peter Fitzpatrick, who warmly welcomed the news.
He said: “I am very pleased with the news that the care home at Castletowncooley has been approved for funding under CAS. The CAS targets some of the most vulnerable groups in our society, facilitating the accommodation needs of older people, people with a disability, elderly returning emigrants and those exiting temporary homeless accommodation.
“This funding will allow for the complete refurbishment of the case home, installing a lift, ceiling hoists and door automation. This is about improving the quality of life of the people living there.
“The Capital Assistance Scheme, administered by the Local Authorities, is the principal funding mechanism under which the Approved Housing Bodies are enabled to provide sustainable and long-term accommodation.
“The provision of €86 million for CAS this year will ensure continued focus on meeting the housing needs of vulnerable groups with some 450 units to be provided for people with specific needs in 2016.”
