Louth Ladies 2017 Championship draws are made
The draw for the 2017 Louth Ladies Football Championships took place in the Geraldines clubrooms in Haggardstown last night.
Reigning senior champions Stabannon, who beat the Geraldines on a 7-11 to 1-7 scoreline in Clan na Gael Park in last September’s final, have received a bye in the first round.
They were drawn in Group A alongside Cooley Kickhams, Newtown Blues, St Patrick’s/Cuchulainn Gaels and Roche Emmets/Na Piarsaigh.
In Round One Cooley Kickhams will face the Newtown Blues while St Patrick’s/Cuchulainn Gaels will face Roche Emmets/Na Piarsaigh.
In Group B are St Brides, St Mochta’s, St Kevin’s and the Geraldines. St Brides and St Mochta’s will meet in a local derby in the first round with St Kevin’s facing off against the Geraldines.
Meanwhile, in the Intermediate Championship last year’s junior champions Mattock Rangers were paired together in Group A alongside Clan na Gael, St Fechin’s, Naomh Fionnbarra and Naomh Mairtin/Glen Emmets.
Clan na Gael will face St Fechin’s in the opening round with Naomh Fionnbarra going head to head with Mattock and Naomh Mairtin/Glen Emmets receiving a bye.
In Group B are the O Raghallaigh’s, Kilkerley Emmets, the Dreadnots and Glyde Rangers. The O Raghallaigh’s and Kilkerley Emmets will face each other in the first round with the Dreadnots facing Glyde.
In the Junior Championship Clan na Gael will face the O Raghallaigh’s in the final with both sides also set to take part in the Intermediate Championship.
