Louth Rose Aoife Heffron will have to upset the odds if she wants to become the first person from the Wee County to claim the Rose of Tralee International title this Tuesday night.
The festival got underway in Kerry yesterday with Kingswood woman Aoife hoping to make it into the TV stage of the competition on Monday and Tuesday when the number of Roses is cut from 64 to 32.
Even if she gets that far she is up against it, according to the bookmakers.
Paddy Power have Aoife as a 66/1 outsider for the title, while BoyleSports – where Aoife works in Dundalk as a PR executive – give her slightly better odds of 50/1.
Both firms have Dublin Rose Maria Coughlan and Sydney Rose Aisling Walsh as the 3/1 joint favourites.
