Louth Senior Championship semi-finals this Saturday in Haggardstown
The semi-finals of the Anchor Tours Louth SFC will take place this Saturday evening in Haggardstown.
A Dundalk team is guaranteed a place in the Joe Ward decider with Dundalk Gaels down to play last year’s beaten finalists Sean O’Mahony’s in the first semi-final at 6pm.
The second semi-final will then see St Mary’s of Ardee go head to head with the Dreadnots at 7.30pm.
Both the Sean O’Mahony’s and the Dreadnots are aiming for their first Senior Championship wins, with the Clogherhead outfit having lost both the 2014 and 2012 finals to current holders St Patrick’s.
St Mary’s are the joint second most successful side in the history of the senior championship with 11 wins – the same total as Dundalk Young Irelands – but they have not won the title since beating Pat’s in 1995, with their last final appearance coming in 2003 when they lost to the Lordship men on a replay.
Dundalk Gaels have three senior championship wins to their names but the last was way back in 1952. Their last final appearance came back in 1992 when they lost in the final to Dundalk rivals Clan na Gael.
