The next local elections in Louth might not be taking place for another 22 months until May 2019 but it appears that the battle for votes has already begun.

At the weekend Dundalk-Carlingford councillor John McGahon kicked off his re-election campaign by delivering 6,000 leaflets throughout Dundalk with the help of supporters from the local branch of Young Fine Gael.

After the leaflet drop, the current Dundalk Municipal District Committee chairmen then treated his enthusiastic volunteers to a bite to eat in Kennedy’s Bar on the Carrick Road.

Cllr McGahon is not the only local candidate gearing up for the next local elections with former Dundalk Town Councillor Oliver Morgan launching his campaign’s Facebook page at the weekend. You can access it here.
