Mothercare Dundalk not affected by UK store closures
The Mothercare store in the Marshes Shopping Centre and 14 others throughout the Republic will not be affected by the company’s recent store closures in the UK.
Concerns over the future of a number of the children and baby store’s shops here rose earlier this month when the company announced that it was to close 50 stores in Britain.
However, in a statement in recent days Mothercare Ireland said they are separate to Mothercare UK and will not be closing their stores here.
They said: “Mothercare Ireland is a separately owned and family run business that has been operating in Ireland for 26 years.
“The business was started by David Ward in 1992 and is now run by his two sons Jonathan and Ben and daughter Laura.
“Mothercare Ireland is a completely separate company and as a result our 15 Irish stores are unaffected by any plans in the proposal and will continue to trade as normal.”
