Local businessman Martin McElligott has been appointed the new Dundalk BIDS Manager.

The appointment has been confirmed by BIDS Chairman Tom Muckian who said: “I am pleased to say that Martin McElligott has taken on the role of BIDS Manager for Dundalk

“A supporter of BIDS from its beginnings as TCCM, he brings with him a wealth of experience as a local businessman,” said Tom.

Martin’s appointment also sees him joining the Association of Town Centre Managers (ACTM).

Martin is best known locally for running the Photospeed business in the Long Walk Shopping Centre. He is also the operator of the big screen at the Market Square and last Christmas was project manager for Dundalk on Ice.

Dundalk BIDS has been without a manager for more than a year, with Martin now finally filling the role vacated by Edel O’Mahony.

Martin, who has already started working with the Market Square BIDS team on a number of projects, said he is delighted with his new position.

“I’m very happy that the Dundalk BIDS company has shown its support in appointing me Manager.

“I have numerous projects in the pipeline which I hope our ratepayers will find innovative, supportive and beneficial.

“I look forward to working alongside the ratepayers and various relevant bodies in creating a positive forward looking Dundalk business district,” he said.
