Osadebe on target in season opener for Gillingham
Former Dundalk FC underage star Emmanuel ‘Frank’ Osadebe opened the League One campaign for Gillingham with a goal in their 3-1 victory away to Southend Utd on Saturday.
The former Bay Utd and Dundalk Schoolboys’ League star marked his debut last August with a man of the match display in the Gills’ 4-0 victory over Sheffield Utd.
The 19-year-old, who joined Gillingham from Tottenham Hotspur, put pen to paper on a new deal with the Priestfield Stadium outfit in June.
Last year he started 12 games and came on as a substitute in a further nine, chipping in with two goals, including the club’s goal of the season against Bury last November.
On Saturday he showed his quality with a stunning run from midfield before receiving a pass back from team-mate Jay Emmanuel-Thomas to fire home his side’s third goal in the 79th minute to clinch all three points.
