Planning granted for new filling station on Dublin Road
A new fuel station could still be constructed at the former Texaco Southend Service Station on the Dublin Road after Shepwil Ltd were granted conditional planning permission for an extension of the planning they were initially granted five years ago.
This allowed them to demolish the previous canopy and decommission the existing underground fuel storage tanks and associated fuel pipework.
That work has already been completed but the new forecourt was never built.
The plans for the site include the construction of a new 4.5m high forecourt canopy, the installation of three underground 40,000 litre fuel tanks, three fuel dispensers and an air/water service area.
They also hope to create a new 100sqm retail area, comprising a delicatessen, ancillary office and toilets.
The site, located beside Dromad Hire and opposite Dundalk IT, measures 0.25 hectares had been on the market with Dublin-based estate agents Knight Frank up until last May.
Shepwil Ltd, with an address at Quayside Business Park in Dundalk, was set up last July by Brian W Byrne and Bridget Williams.
